Features Of Access Control Keypad

Digital keyless entry systems are great for single entry point applications. Such keypads can be used in wide range of applications like door locks, automatic gates etc. Because each individual is assigned a code and they have to enter that code on the keypad to get access; only the authorized personnel are able to get access.

Display keypads have a backlit metal keypad that illuminates when in use. Number of access codes to be stored in the keypad can be programmed. Modern keypads continue to work properly in case of a power loss as well because these have a non-volatile memory that remains unaffected during the power loss as well and hence, no data is lost.

Usually the modern access control keypad also come with other characteristics like:

•    Timer

•    Sound preferences

•    Security response for invalid code entry

•    Reprogrammable memory

We can call these keypads as Internet keypad or Network Keypad and these keypads do not require a separate programmer since most of the programming can be done at the keypad.

Few keypads are able to store more than 500 access codes. We can also call them as rugged keypad because these come with a metal housing that protects the keypad and this housing also seals out the moisture. Independent output actions for each access code can also be programmed and these are very secure as these have no external wiring that can be cut by intruders. Therefore these keypads are apt for office buildings, commercial places, apartments, parking, industrial areas etc as these have an auto-relock feature that gets activated as soon as the door is closed.
